At La Brasa, while developing our menu, I was inspired by the honey-rhubarb combo in the Shipwrecked cocktail. Our blended Scotch usually gets overlooked except at weddings, but it pairs wonderfully with rhubarb bitters like Zucca, as seen in the Caustic Negroni. To balance the sweetness, I added lemon juice and layered complexity with Angostura and Peychaud’s Bitters for darker herbal notes and spicy brightness. Naming it after Somerville's mayor, Joe Curtatone, felt fitting, though he tends to prefer Averna when I've served him elsewhere in town.
