Shake Fernet Branca, Kahlúa, Crème de Cacao, Angostura Bitters with ice. Strain into a coupe.

For several years, I've been crafting Fernet "milkshakes" with Fernet, espresso gelato, Guinness, and chocolate syrup. Now, I aim to create a comparable drink without the need for ice cream, beer, or a blender.

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except cream and two ice cubes in a shaker.
  2. Shake for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the cream and more ice, then shake again for around 15 seconds.
  4. Strain into a coupe glass with the wash line reaching the rim or a short Collins glass under 10 ounces.
  5. Garnish optionally with chocolate curls or a sprinkle of espresso powder.
