Zombie Count

Shake Gin, Sweet Vermouth, Campari, Grapefruit Juice with ice. Strain into a tiki mug.

During Negroni Week 2020, I pondered creating an intriguing blend of the famous 1919 cocktail and a classic Tiki drink, settling on the 1934 Zombie as my inspiration. To this recipe, I boosted the grapefruit and cinnamon to complement Campari well. Additionally, I removed falernum since there were already plenty of spiced and herbal notes in the mix. The grenadine content was also increased significantly, often paired with Campari in contemporary Tiki recipes for its "bittersweet" flavor profile. Naming it a challenge, I chose between Zombie Count and Count Zombie to pay homage to Count Camillo Negroni, ultimately settling on Zombie Count.
