During the Marie Brizard 2008 Cocktail Competition, I created the Smoked Anise as part of my fall-themed cocktail lineup. By combining Sobieski vodka's robust anise flavor with Anisette, I enhanced both the anise profile and the sweetness from the rye in the vodka. A hint of Laphroaig added just enough smoke to balance everything out without overpowering it. The result is a straightforward yet flavorful drink that successfully blends challenging flavors like anise and smokiness into one cohesive cocktail.
