Frederic Yarm created the Right Place Wrong Time in 2023 after a chef asked for a Strega cocktail and was served Chris Hannah's Night Tripper. At home, that drink became the starting point for a version with mezcal and Cynar in place of bourbon and Averna, keeping the Strega and Peychaud's Bitters, with earlier Cynar and Strega pairings in Alex Day's La Bateleur and Mike Steele's The Truth as encouragement. The name is borrowed from a Dr. John song title.
