Rafa García Febles created the Emperor Norton in 2012 as a tribute to Joshua Norton, a much-loved 19th-century San Francisco character who became known as Emperor Norton of the United States and Protector of Mexico. The drink features Fernet Branca, an amaro popular locally in the city Norton claimed to rule.
