Broadway Nights
🥄0
Stir Rye Whiskey, Mezcal, Sweet Vermouth, Green Chartreuse with ice. Strain into a coupe.
Inspired by David Embury’s Green Chartreuse-Curaçao combo in his 1948 book, The Knight, I decided to take it in a Manhattan direction. Using rye and mezcal split spirits added complexity, with agave spirits pairing wonderfully with the herbal notes of Green Chartreuse. My initial version featured Punt e Mes but its depth clashed with the flavors. Switching to regular sweet vermouth improved the balance significantly. Naming it Broadway Nights seemed fitting, combining references to The Knight and Manhattan cocktails, as well as paying homage to Barbara Stanwyck’s 1927 film of the same name.
