Tin Can Telephone

Stir Apple Brandy, Sweet Vermouth, Salers Gentiane (Suze Or Aveze Would Work Too), BéNéDictine with ice. Strain into a coupe.

At Russell House Tavern, I aimed to create a twist on the Marconi Wireless cocktail. The idea began when I noticed how well gentian liqueurs such as Salers complement sweet vermouth in drinks like the Harry Palmer. My creation evolved into a three-part concoction but fell short by a quarter ounce. To balance it out, I added Benedictine for its earthy and chocolate notes, inspired by its pairing with apple brandy in cocktails like the Full House #2. The final result leaned more towards a Vieux Carré than a Negroni structure. For a fitting name, I chose "Tin Can Telephone," sticking to the theme of communication.
