Inspiration struck when I tasted Cardamaro paired with Amaro Montenegro at the Khartoum bar. This led me to experiment with mezcal, creating a drink dubbed the M&M. However, it lacked depth until I added absinthe and bitters. The next day, after more tweaking, I incorporated Fernet Branca for that extra kick of flavor. Recalling Marlon Brando’s autobiography, “Songs My Mother Taught Me,” I christened this cocktail with his title.
