Sheltering Sky

🥄
0

Stir Cognac, Swedish Punsch, BéNéDictine, Dry Sherry with ice. Strain into a coupe.

In 2014, during a ShakeStir competition backed by Cognac, I drew inspiration from the Rocket cocktail detailed in "Pioneers of Mixing in Elite Bars: 1903-1933." My version swapped sweet vermouth for nutty sherry and Picon with Benedictine and Angostura bitters. The name Sheltering Sky came to me after reading Paul Bowles' mid-century novel, as the drink seemed to encapsulate global travel in a single glass.
