A whisky-forward riff on the Adonis, where Scotch stands in for part of the sherry's usual lead. Dry sherry and sweet vermouth add nutty, dried-fruit depth, with a touch of bitters to hold it together.

Instructions

  1. Fill a mixing glass with ice and add the Scotch, sweet vermouth, dry sherry and Angostura bitters.
  2. Stir until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
  3. Fill a rocks glass with fresh ice, ideally with one large chunk of block ice.
  4. Strain the drink into the glass.
  5. Squeeze the orange zest twist over the surface to release its oils, then discard it.
