Scotch and sweet vermouth with lemon juice and Cherry Heering: dark cherry fruit balanced by citrus and bitters. Shaken and served in a coupe.

Frederic Yarm of Boston created Rogue's Romance as an experiment with the structure of the Death or Glory, a drink Yarm had worked on for an article about a cocktail biopic of The Clash. The Cherry Heering recalled the Blood & Sand, which gave the drink its name from Rudolph Valentino's film Rogue's Romance, and lemon replaced orange to set it apart from that classic and move it closer to Johann Goes to Mexico and the Trinidad Sour. Testing then added an orange-peel garnish and a regal shake to bring back some of the elegance of traditional cocktails.
