I tried a drink named "Root n' Rye" at Oliver on the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri, back in 2018. While I'm not certain if that was where it originated, I loved it so much that I looked up recipes online and found Cathy's version to be the earliest match I could locate.

Instructions
