Stir Japanese Whisky, Sloe Gin, Fernet (Gagliardo), CrèMe De Banane with ice. Strain into a coupe.

I've experimented numerous times with substituting vermouth in various cocktails. First, I tried apple juice followed by sloe gin. When mixed with an amaro or a fruitier liqueur, sloe gin often mimics sweet vermouth's profile. Plymouth sloe gin comes close to replicating the complexity of vermouth. Vermouth offers woody and fruity flavors along with a hint of bitterness. Sloe gin captures some of these elements, including the wine-like astringency.
