Equal parts maraschino liqueur, lime juice, genever and absinthe rouge, shaken until sharp and sweet-sour. The absinthe adds a clear anise note.

Jason Westplate created the Red Letters in 2013 as a variation on the Last Word, using genever in place of gin and red absinthe in place of green Chartreuse. The swaps give a somewhat sweeter, more floral herbal character.
