Phoebe Snow

Stir Brandy, Dubonnet Rouge, Absinthe with ice. Strain into a rocks glass.

The Phoebe Snow cocktail is inspired by a fictional advertising figure for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad from the early 1900s. Known as the woman in white who remained pristine despite traveling on coal trains, her image was tied to anthracite, which burned cleaner than bituminous coal used elsewhere. The railroad started off hauling freight but quickly grew into a major passenger service. An interesting side note is that Phoebe Snow also sparked the creation of another classic drink: the Brandy Alexander.
