Build Ojen, Peychaud's Bitters, Orgeat in a rocks glass over ice.

The Ojen Cocktail is rooted in a unique history involving a Spanish spirit that found its way to New Orleans during the early 1900s. When production of Ojen ceased, a local liquor store snapped up the remaining 500 cases. In 2016, Sazerac Co. revived the spirit by creating their own version of this once-defunct Spanish liqueur.

Instructions

  1. Place crushed ice in a rocks glass.
  2. Pour Ojen over it, then mix in 4 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters and Orgeat or simple syrup.
  3. Stir well to combine.
  4. Add extra crushed ice, followed by 3 more dashes of Peychaud’s.
  5. Swirl vigorously until the glass becomes frosted.
