Jeppson's Malort, famously bitter, softened with honey and passion fruit syrups and lemon juice, with egg white for a silky texture and mint as garnish. Created by Frederic Yarm in Boston in 2019.
Frederic Yarm created the Northern Lights in Boston in 2019 as a Malört-based twist on Trader Vic's Port Light and Starboard Light, which use whisky. The idea probably traces back to confusing two Malört drinks by Nick Jarrett, Cutman and Cornerman. Nordic Light, after the Nordic Toddy, was considered first, but Northern Lights won out because it suggests ships heading further north.
