The Moral Suasion is credited to Prof. Mapes and Mr. E. F. Barry of the Everett House bar in New York City and dates to 1867. The original recipe called for real dry peach brandy, a wineglassful in all, rounded out with a little Curaçao, lemon juice, sugar and a teaspoon of Benedictine.
