Jason Westplate created the Milwaukie in 2013 as a local take on the classic Algonquin cocktail, rooted in the creator's hometown of Milwaukee. The name comes from the Algonquin/Ojibwa language.

Instructions

  1. Muddle a pineapple wedge with vodka in a mixing glass until the fruit is mashed up.
  2. Pour this mixture through a strainer into a shaker.
  3. Add ice to the shaker along with whiskey, vermouth, and syrup.
  4. Shake vigorously until cold.
  5. Strain the contents into a chilled cocktail glass.
  6. Finish by adding five drops of bitters and garnishing with a fresh pineapple wedge.
