Mexico City Blues
🥄0
Stir Mezcal, Gin, Sweet Vermouth, Braulio with ice. Strain into a rocks glass.
Inspiration struck while reminiscing about a mezcal-gin blend that clicked for me in January 2023 during a visit to Oaxaca where juniper trees grew among agave fields. A few months later, I spotted Gracias a Dios Agave Gin at work and decided to experiment with it. Drawing on recipes from the Kerouac and Thieves in the Night cocktails, I initially tried a 1:1:1/2:1/2 ratio similar to the Big Spender but found it lacking depth. Adding sweet vermouth helped, yet it wasn't until incorporating Punt e Mes that everything fell into place. Naming this creation Mexico City Blues after one of Jack Kerouac's short stories felt fitting.
