Lechuza

Shake Mezcal, Lime Juice, Drambuie, CrèMe De Banane with ice. Strain into a coupe.

The inspiration for the Lechuza came from experimenting with the Drambuie and banana liqueur in The Goodwill cocktail. I decided to replace its rye whiskey and lemon with mezcal and lime, adding Peychaud's Bitters as an extra touch. Naming it after Mexican folklore, specifically a shapeshifting witch known as the lechuza—a creature resembling a large bird with a human face—aligned well with Backbar’s cryptid-themed menu.
