La Savane

Stir Rhum Agricole, Mezcal, Cocchi Americano, Swedish Punsch with ice. Strain into a coupe.

Recalling the Metexa from the 1937 Café Royal Cocktail Book inspired me to create something new. The original featured Lillet, tequila, and Swedish punsch, but I opted for mezcal and rhum agricole instead of tequila, sticking with an agave theme while nodding to the pairing in "Sleeping with Strangers." Adjusting the proportions made it more cocktail-like than aperitif. Naming it La Savane after a garden and park on Martinique seemed fitting.
