Pisco, sweet vermouth and Amaro Montenegro in equal parts, stirred and served in a rocks glass. Bittersweet and herbal, with the grape spirit adding a light floral lift. Created by Josh Miller in 2012.

Josh Miller of inuakena.com created La Merced in 2012 as a variation on the Negroni. The drink is a tribute to an Italian community in the Peruvian highlands.

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a double old fashioned glass and stir.
  2. Add one ice sphere or big ice cube, then stir lightly.
  3. Squeeze an orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass next to the ice.
