King Louie

Stir Rye Whiskey, Cognac, Bonal Gentiane Quina, CrèMe De Banane with ice. Strain into a rocks glass.

One night after closing, I got inspired to experiment with banana liqueur, which I hadn't used in a few days when making the Origami Ape. Drawing from the 1919 Cocktail’s structure, I created this drink and named it King Louie for the orangutan character from Disney's 1967 film The Jungle Book. This primate wasn’t part of Rudyard Kipling’s original story but was voiced by New Orleans singer Louis Prima. Plus, the cocktail had a distinct NOLA vibe to match its moniker.
