A frothy, ginger-heavy mug drink: Irish whiskey with ginger liqueur and ginger shrub, shaken with egg white and topped with tonic. Created by Jason Westplate in 2013.

Jason Westplate created the Jinjer King in 2013, inspired by "Big Ginger" from Minneapolis, a favorite of a friend of the creator. The aim was a drink with the same character but a richer texture and a more substantial flavor.

Instructions

  1. Combine Canton, Jameson, and egg white in a shaker without ice and shake for about 10 seconds.
  2. Add ice and shrub, then shake again until thoroughly chilled.
  3. Strain into an Irish coffee mug and top with tonic water until it pushes the foam over the rim.
