Brew a double espresso or prepare strong coffee.
Mix sugar into the hot beverage until it dissolves completely. Allow to chill if you prefer a cooler drink.
Break up around six ice cubes using a towel, an ice crusher, or a blender. Alternatively, use whole ice cubes.
Rough up the ice by shaking it in a highball glass or your chosen vessel.
Pour pear liqueur into the glass.
Follow with coffee and finish off with cold milk.
Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa powder or coffee grounds over the top as garnish.
