A stirred, cognac-led drink with a little Scotch, Velvet Falernum and bitter Cynar, in a glass rinsed with absinthe and finished with Angostura. Spiced, bitter and boozy. Created by Frederic Yarm in Boston in 2023.

Frederic Yarm created the Home Drum in 2023, starting from the Cynar and falernum pairing in the Brooks cocktail. The choice of base spirit draws on Richard Seale's description of the Cognac Corn'n'Oil at a talk in Boston, and the proportions follow Maks Pazuniak's 100 Year Old Cigar, along with its smoky touches of Scotch and absinthe. The name comes from the Bajan saying "Home drum beats first," which counsels tending to one's own household before anyone else's.
