Home Drum

Stir Cognac, Scotch, Cynar, Velvet Falernum with ice. Strain into a rocks glass.

Inspired by the Cynar-falernum combo in the Brooks cocktail, I turned to Richard Seale’s description of the Cognac Corn'n'Oil during a Boston talk for my base spirit. Following Maks Pazuniak’s 100 Year Old Cigar proportions and smoky notes from Scotch and absinthe, I named it Home Drum, reflecting the Bajan phrase "Home drum beats first," which advises looking after your own family before others.
