Hemingway Daiquiri

0

A tart, dry daiquiri where grapefruit and lime sharpen the white rum, while maraschino liqueur adds a faint cherry-almond sweetness. Crisp and citrus-driven rather than sugary.

Also known as the Hemingway Special. Ernest Hemingway drank his daiquiris at El Floridita in Havana, where bartender Constantino Ribalaigua Vert made them with grapefruit and maraschino. Hemingway's own order, the Papa Doble, had double the rum and no sugar. The often repeated claim that he skipped the sugar because of diabetes has no support. Read about Hemingway's drinks
