Gustin Gang

🥄
0

Stir Gin, Sloe Gin, Sweet Vermouth, Cynar with ice. Strain into a coupe.

At Our Fathers, I took inspiration from the 1919 Cocktail and used dry gin alongside sloe gin to match our bar's focus on gin-based drinks. Keeping Punt e Mes in place but substituting molé with Peychaud’s Bitters for their compatibility with sloe’s fruity profile, and replacing Benedictine with Cynar as a nod to Phil Ward’s Lipspin, I crafted the Gustin Gang cocktail. The name pays homage to the notorious Boston-based Gustin Gang, which emerged in the mid-1910s and thrived during Prohibition by running rum boats from international waters into South Boston. They supplied their local speakeasy, the Sportlight, as well as other establishments with illicit alcohol.
