Freeside

0

A stirred gin and dry vermouth drink where cucumber and dill give a green, fresh character, finished with a lemon twist and bitters. Created by Mike Alwill at Cocktail Democracy in Brooklyn.

Mike Alwill of Cocktail Democracy in Brooklyn created the Freeside as a take on the Gibson, using Dolin Blanc in place of dry vermouth and dropping the pickled onion. The garnish is instead built from ramp bitters that have been caramelized, lemon peel, cucumber and dill, the dill chosen for its resemblance to a data tree in computer science and the Kirby cucumber for its likeness to the Freeside space resort in Gibson's writing.
