Fanciulli (modern variation)
🥄0
Stir Bourbon, Sweet Vermouth, Fernet Branca with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass.
The exact birthdate of the original Fanciulli remains unclear, but it appeared in Albert Stevens Crockett's book "Old Waldorf Bar Days" from 1931, where he noted its existence prior to Puccini’s opera "La Fanciulla del West," which premiered in 1910. This contemporary rendition follows the recipe Crockett documented, featuring a 2:1:1 ratio of bourbon or rye whiskey, Italian vermouth, and Fernet Branca.
