A stirred, bitter and herbal drink in a rocks glass, with Scotch as the base and gentian liqueur, crème de menthe and a teaspoon of absinthe adding bitterness, mint and aniseed. Created by Greg Shutters in 2022.

Greg Shutters made this 2022 drink in honor of Ernest Shackleton's ship Endurance, which sank in 1915 after being trapped in Antarctic ice and was found again in 2022. It is built on Shackleton Scotch, a blended malt made from bottles discovered at one of the explorer's earlier expedition sites.

Instructions

  1. Mix the cocktail in a mixing glass containing ice cubes until well chilled.
  2. Strain it into an oversized Old Fashioned glass that is three-quarters full of crushed ice.
  3. Add more crushed ice on top so it rises over the rim.
  4. Include a straw for drinking.
