During the Middle Ages, the Lombards seized control of a duchy in southern Italy, which included Benevento and parts of the Campania coast. This region gave rise to two famous Italian liqueurs: Strega from Benevento and Limoncello from the coastal areas. The Swedish vodka hints at the mythical Scandinavian roots of the Lombards, while Campari nods to Milan's significant role in Lombard history.
