A tongue-in-cheek riff on the Manhattan, fruity and tart from raspberry shrub, cranberry and limoncello, with maraschino sweetness and a pine-like note from the Douglas fir eau de vie. A splash of Fernet Branca adds a bitter, herbal finish.

Dale DeGroff created the Craft Squirrel Sex Manhattan in 2013. It is a variation on the Manhattan that starts from Jerry Thomas's original recipe and updates it for present-day tastes.

- Chill a coupe, swirl the grenadine around the inside to rinse it, and tip out any excess.
- Add the limoncello, strawberry eau de vie, Douglas fir eau de vie, raspberry shrub, maraschino liqueur, cranberry, tartaric acid powder and simple syrup to a shaker filled with ice.
- Shake hard until well chilled.
- Double-strain into the rinsed coupe.
- Add the splashes of Fernet Branca, to taste, and garnish with cranberry.
