Instructions

Begin by combining the peels, bay leaves, cardamom pods, cloves, star anise, molasses, and sugar in a bowl. Cover this mixture and let it sit at room temperature for up to 4 hours until all the sugar has dissolved. Next, transfer the oleo saccharum into another container and add vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, Port wine, and Cointreau. Stir thoroughly before letting the mix rest for an hour. Afterward, strain this mixture finely through a sieve into a new bowl to remove any solids. For the milk component, warm some milk in a separate bowl and then gently incorporate the strained punch into it until curds form clearly. Strain the liquid twice using cheesecloth over a chinois to ensure all particles are removed. Finally, strain once more through a coffee filter for clarity. The result should be a clear pink/orange hue. To prepare the cocktail, fill a tall glass with ice and pour in 2 ounces of your prepared punch. Flame an orange slice above the drink briefly before adding 2 ounces of tonic water on top. Garnish with both the flamed orange peel and a bay leaf for added flair.
