Frederic Yarm of Somerville, Massachusetts, devised this sour-style drink in 2022 for an article about maple syrup, naming it after Pete Seeger's 1979 album "Circles and Seasons", which contains the song "Maple Syrup Time". The gin and maple base comes from David Embury's Old Vermont, the grapefruit and maple pairing from Don the Beachcomber's Volcano Bowl, and the 3:2:1 proportions from Yarm's Seventh Heaven at Drink.
