Circles and Seasons

Shake Gin, Grapefruit Juice, Simple Syrup, Angostura Bitters with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass.

For an article about maple syrup, I decided to craft a Sour-style cocktail. Inspired by Pete Seeger’s 1979 album "Circles and Seasons," which includes the song "Maple Syrup Time" describing syrup-making in folk style, I named my drink Circles and Seasons. The recipe draws on David Embury's Old Vermont for its gin-maple base and Don the Beachcomber’s Volcano Bowl for grapefruit and maple flavors. These elements blend beautifully, much like Seeger’s other rendition of "Maple Syrup Time" from his album Seeds. I also followed the 3:2:1 ratio used in my Seventh Heaven cocktail at Drink.
