Mgr. Moustachio of Cabinet Beer Baseball Club in Miami created the Blue Christmas in 2011, inspired by the story collection "Blue Christmas: Holiday Stories for the Rest of Us". The author and editor John Dufresne chose it as the official Blue Christmas Holiday Cocktail in the second episode of CBBC's series Drinking With Writers.
