Cognac and pineapple rum stirred with Drambuie and Fernet Branca, finished with an orange twist. Served in a rocks glass, created by Frederic Yarm at Drink in Boston in 2022.

Frederic Yarm created the Big Spender in 2022 at Drink in Boston, after a customer ordered a Rusty Nail and set the creator's thoughts on Drambuie. Drawing on the Bittered Old Coot and Bonita Applebum's Drambuie-Fernet blend, the creator tried out Cognac and pineapple rum that same night. The name comes from Peggy Lee's song "Big Spender", which was playing at the time.

Instructions

Mix over ice, then pour through a strainer into a double old fashioned glass containing one big ice cube. Finish by squeezing an orange peel to release its oils as a garnish.
