One day at work, a customer requested a Rusty Nail, which got me thinking about Drambuie. Recalling the Bittered Old Coot and Bonita Applebum’s Brambuie-Fernet blend, I decided to experiment with Cognac and pineapple rum that night. The song "Big Spender" by Peggy Lee was playing, so I used it for the cocktail's name.
