The conversation turned to Saratoga Springs, New York's significance in the late 1800s, touching on Jerry Thomas' and Harry Johnson's versions of the Saratoga Cocktail. It then veered towards Berry Wall and his legendary outfit-changing challenge at breakfast and dinner, where he earned the title "King of the Dudes" by switching clothes forty times. Inspired by this flamboyant figure, I decided to create a cocktail in his honor.

Instructions

  1. Mash the strawberry with Campari and allspice dram.
  2. Combine the remaining ingredients, then stir over ice.
  3. Strain twice through a fine mesh into a rocks glass containing one big ice cube.
  4. Finish by twisting an orange peel over the drink as a garnish.
