Anabasis

0

Equal parts gin, armagnac, triple sec and Cocchi Americano, stirred and served in an absinthe-rinsed coupe: orange sweetness and bittersweet wine notes with a faint anise edge. Created by Mike Alwill at Cocktail Democracy in Brooklyn.

Mike Alwill built the Anabasis on the Corpse Reviver #2, replacing the lemon juice with just a twist and Lillet Blanc with Cocchi Americano. The changes bring out the maltiness of Ransom Old Tom Gin and the spiciness of Armagnac. The name is the counterpart of katabasis, a descent into the underworld, and stands for a return from the coast to the country's heartland.
