Frederic Yarm built the Ada Lovecraft in 2021 as a spin-off of the Hanky Panky. Looking for other drinks with the initials H and P led the creator to the New England horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, and that in turn suggested Malört as the base spirit for its eerie character. The name honors Ada Coleman, the Savoy Hotel bartender behind the Hanky Panky.
